Just arrived in Barstow and getting ready for our final drive to Santa Monica tomorrow, having driven from Kingman AZ.

Just to let you know that the Ludlow to Fort Cady road has been resurfaced. It is now 27 miles of the smoothest tarmac ever! Not sure when it was done, but the signs are still there saying ROugh Road for 10 Miles and the centre line has not been painted yet.

Loved the book, God knows where we would have been without it, so many thanks from a grateful Brit!

Alan

We just received our EZ guide to Route 66 today. We are planning our Route 66 trip in mid to late August 2017. With so much to see and do we are having a tough time deciding just how much time to allow for our "bucket list" trip. The book is a great resource as well as all of the internet resources that are listed. Here we go.....

Hi Jerry , myself and two motorcycle friends have just finished a east to west 66 tour with the help of your 4th edition book. It proved completely invaluable in preparing for our trip, and we got to see everything we planned. An update on a section between Helendale and Oro-Grande, after Barstow. There is freshly layed gravel and 'OIL'(resurfacing to us Brits)),just not what us bikers want to see in a road-sign whilst riding. Pristine paint jobs may want to avoid this area for a time. It was easily passable but the reduced speed (35/45 mph)made it a little tedious. Thanks for the great research and all the updates. Steve, Paul and Gary,UK

Hi Jerry, I just finished route 66 on my own. It was an amazing experience, I have met a lot of people during my trip, all with their own stories and memories of the route. Thank you very much for all the effort you have put in your book and website, without it, I never would have made it. I will definitely go back next year but take some more time to cruise the 66 ;-).

I was sorry to have missed you on our recent trip. We tried stopping at your gallery on May 30th and again on my way back home on June 3rd. Your EZ guide was invaluable for our trip and I thank you very much for all your work on the book. I must say that it was much easier to follow westbound than it was eastbound. But, we couldn't have had the excellent experience we did without your guide. Thanks so much.

Have you met Larry White from Sapulpa, OK? He is a former history teacher who retired and built a business in pest control that now employs over 30 people. He also has an event center right off of Water Street (I found it while photographing the restored Gulf station there). Larry has preserved and restored many old signs and displays them in his building called "Signs of the Times." I told him that he should consider opening that collection as a museum and he's also thought about it. He was nice enough to open it just for me and it was a highlight of my Route 66 trip in June of 2017. You should make contact with him. His email is lwhite@emcopc.com.

Hi Jerry, love your book. My friend and I missed you last week in OK. Wanted to let you know the road is closed due to rock slide, I think, from Manuelito, NM to Arizonia boarder on Route 118. This was yesterday, April 20. Thanks again for making our trip special with your ezguide. Janeen

The 66 Super Service Station in Alanreed, TX is now missing the roof and door to the garage portion. A "No Trespassing" sign has been posted to the entrance.

I had visited the station about a year before, and the roof was still intact, but the garage door had partially caved in.

The rest of the structure appears to be the same (no signs of vandalism or further deterioration).

The Route 66 Museum in Berwyn (!L Page 5) appears to be permanently closed. Nothing is inside and a rental space sign is out front.
