EZ UPDATES
For readers of the EZ 66 Guide for Travelers, I have provided free online updates to help keep your Route 66 experience as current as possible. As you might imagine, Route 66 is constantly undergoing changes, some good, others not so. Businesses open and close, roads are re-routed and street names change.
Please check back here just before your trip for the latest info. Entries are dated as to when they were added.
If you wish to purchase your own copy of the EZ Guide, please go

EZ 66 readers have been helpful in keeping me keep the guidebook updated in between my own road trips, so if you discover something that needs to be addressed while on your journey, please let me know!

Got a report this morning that the famous and historic "Eisler Brothers" store is evidently now called "Nelsons." So look for that name on the bldg.

The car game has changed a bit due to the adoption of the blue and white "Historic 66 Byway" signs, instead of the former brown and white signs!

Eastbound aproaching Wellston and 66B from Luther:
You can NO longer "veer left" to join eastbound 66B at the Y JCT with OK 66. Instead, continue about 4 tenths of a mile, turn LEFT at the HWY 102 JCT, then next RIGHT onto Hwy 66B into Wellston as before.

I will be changing the EZ tour route in the upcoming 3rd edition, from the Illinois side of the Chain of Rocks Bridge to Downtown St Louis. This will involve following IL Hwy 3 south from I-270 EXIT 3. (note..this is a substitute road and not 66) The tour route will cross the McKinley Bridge (the 1926 era crossing of Rte 66) and there join I-70 to St Louis (another substitute road). This way is easier and usually quicker..although at times of heavy traffic, the 2 lane bridge may get tied up a bit by stoplights at I-70 and at IL 3. After talking with EZ guide users, it seemed that an EZ-er way from Mitchell to St Louis would be welcomed.
WB: From the JCT of Chain of Rocks Rd south of EXIT 3, join Hwy-3 SOUTH towards ST Louis. Take HWY 3 for @ 7.3 mi, then stay AHEAD (AVOID the Hwy 3 turn at the Broadway light) to follow the divided 4 lane as it curves up to enter MISSOURI via McKinley Bridge. Follow the signs “To East I-70,” cross I-70, then quick LEFT onto 11th, then join East I-70 south to downtown ST LOUIS.
EB: Follow I-70 north from downtown ST LOUIS. Take EXIT 248A, cross Salisbury, then quick-turn RIGHT on McKinley Bridge, across the river into ILLINOIS. Curve down, then, at the upcoming Broadway St light, stay AHEAD onto Hwy 3 (NO turn). Go @ 7.3 mi, to Chain of Rocks Rd. Turn RIGHT and resume following the tour.
