Got a report that a room at the Route 66 Motel near Afton (OK page-5) had bugs. I'd check the room first.
UPDATE: Just had a group of Canadians who said their rooms at the 66 Motel were OK. Just needed maintenance. They said there were dead flies on window sill.
UPDATE TOO: Just had a GREAT report from visitors who stayed at the Route 66 Motel. They stayed in the "movie Room" and said it had new carpet and decor, and they were pleased. So it appears that some of their rooms are being rennovated.
UPDATE SUMMER 2020: SADLY, I got a bad report about this motel again...with photos. i can't currently recommend it.

Now that Gar Woolys restaurant has closed, it appears that a new place is going in the same bldg....Jimmy’s Route 66 Round-up Café.
UPDATE 2018: Now it is Tammy's Roundup Cafe! Good food.
Also I don't have room in the EZ to mention the colorful murals in downtown (a few blocks off 66). But you'll see them if you take a side trip on Davenports "Brick Broadway."
Thanks, Randy!

Argh! Some nice observant visitors from Minnesota found a goof I made!
The defunct Phillips 66 is EAST of the Methodist Church, not "further west".
Oh well.

The Giant Abe Lincoln moves around. Look for him now just north of the junction of Lincoln Parkway and 5th Street.

There's been a change in road surface on the OZARK TRAIL OPTION west of Stroud. The portion of north-south road with the 1917 Culvert is reportedly now covered in gravel.

You can now walk UNDERNEATH Route 66 through the recently restored pedestrian underpass in Chelsea, OK!
Back in the heyday of 66, there was so much traffic that this tunnel (like those in Odell, Illinois, Sayre OK, etc) were built to help pedestrians. But you can use this example once again.
Just turn at the stoplight (left turn if headed towards California) and park on the street or at the neighboring businesses.
The entrance is on the side of the road near Chelsea Pharmacy.
Inside the well lighted tunnel are murals of the town and area, and a wall for tourists to sign.
Unfortunately, idiots have already vandalized the signature wall, but fresh paint and a stepped up police presence and cameras should help.
