Watercolor 11" x 16" I photographed this proud owner in front of his station on Route 66 in Santa Rosa NM and commemorated it in this painting. Back in the day, small, independent stations hung out on the outskirts of towns, advertising cut-rate gas.

"Fading Memories"

Watercolor 16" x 20" This was painted to accompany my article and appeared as the cover to the Summer 1998 issue of Route 66 Magazine. I always felt that these old ruins were "haunted" by the fading ghosts of the tourists and travelers who frequented them in their glory days.

OIL on canvas 26" x 36" Here's the happy (?) vacation family turning into the famed Jackrabbit Trading Post, which is still going strong west of Joseph City, Az. This painting has special meaning to me, as I dropped a cap pistol out the window near the Painted Desert, and Dad wouldn't stop to pick it up! Little else of the vacationers matches my family, except for the crying little brother! Once a popular postcard in my (out of print) postcard series, and exhibited in many venues.

Watercolor 15" x 24" An atmospheric scene of this isolated tourist stop east of Holbrook, Az. The stark white walls of this old Post still stand,, empty eyed, like a bleached skull on the banks of Dead Wash.
